Plan to convert towpaths into world class cycle ways

Failte Ireland and SUSTRANS (Sustainable Transport) are meeting with county councils later this month (June 2007) to develop a plan to convert over 1000km of canal and waterway towpaths into world class walk and cycle trails.

SUSTRANS have also offered support to Fingal County Council with the development of cycleways in the Fingal area - as part of the proposed Dublin Belfast Cycle Route.

Ken,

Looking at your newly revised site (well done), I am keen to meet with you to discuss the Broadmeadow Eastury project.

My interest is for walkers who can use the estuary for a circular walk from Malahide along the south shore, crossing the marsh on a boardwalk under the Motorway and opening up/upgrading the norhern shore of the eastury to the railway track, where a boardwalk back to malahide would complete the circuit.

Lots of stakeholders, but many will be supportive.

You can call me anytime at: 01 8587101.
